Have you ever had an idea or inkling to do something, or even a plan or a contract, that then fizzled because you talked yourself out of it?

Recently, I had the desire to reach out to someone I had known in high school. We had been best friends then, so I thought it would be interesting to see if there was any connection still between us despite more than 25 years of non-contact. But then I started to talk myself out of it: “It is best to leave the past in the past; people change; this will be pointless; too much time has passed; we’re strangers now, why bother?”

Configure? Customize? What’s the Diff?

When you are considering a new project management system, you should question and investigate how much you can make it your own. You may hear words like “configure” and “customize” thrown around and wonder what, exactly, they mean. To be honest, many software vendors (Spitfire Management included) use these words a little too interchangeably, even though they mean different things. Ask for clarification when necessary.

Seeking Answers in Work and in Play

Some time ago I started playing the Sims 4. It had been years since I last played and, of course, the that vresion was different from previous ones. I often found myself with questions: How do I rotate objects in the room? How do I go to work? Is there some place I can eat while on a date?

Spreadsheets Plus

excel_spreadsheetIn a  Construction Technology Report survey, construction industry professionals made it clear that they use–and do not want to give up using–spreadsheets. Likewise, when I asked a new client if she used Microsoft Excel, she answered, “Extensively.” I can understand the original appeal: spreadsheets are easy-to-use and flexible, allow you to list things in an organized manner, and can perform complex or otherwise tedious calculations quickly.
